Ocean Signal rescueME MOB1 LB9M Battery Service

Echomaster's engineers are Approved Ocean Signal Service Agents who are authorised to complete your MOB1 battery change. They will also replace all wearing parts/seals, update expiry labels and fully test your device as part of your MOB1 service. 

Once your order has been received we will email an RMA form to you, please include this with your MOB  so that we can expedite your order as quickly as possible. We recommend using a tracked and signed for service for equipment deliveries to our repairs office: Echomaster Marine, 51a Commercial Rd, Buckie, AB56 1TX.

This option is for Ocean Signal MOB1's only. For manufacturers who are not listed, please contact us before placing an order.

Note: Due to the new European regulation ECC/DEC/(22)02 commencing 1st of January 2025 we recommend replacing your existing MOB1 with the new rescueME MOB2.

Any device used in an emergency sea rescue has the right to be deployed, and no restrictions should prevent its use in these situations. Therefore, if the MOB1 is activated during a rescue, it is allowed to be used.

This is according to the International Maritime Organisation’s International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS), 1974 as amended, (Chapter IV, Regulation 1, Clause 3): “No provision in this chapter shall prevent the use by any ship, survival craft or person in distress, of any means at their disposal to attract attention, make known their position and obtain help.”

However, as many countries now adopted the Class-M regulation, some authorities may implement penalties to users who are carrying and planning on using the MOB1 within their safety equipment. Essentially, while penalties may be applied to beacon owners who are planning on using the MOB1 in an emergency, if the MOB1 is actually used in an emergency, no penalties will be applied for using the device.

In order to be Class-M compliant, we do recommend upgrading to the new, Class-M compliant MOB2.
