Blanking Plug & Speed Only Insert

For all newer style B744VL models

This version replaced the previous models in 2009. The newer versions have a second retaining cap and do not have a clevis pin through the top.

If your speed sensor is not functioning you should first check that the paddlewheel is intact and turning freely. Damaged paddlewheels can be replaced with a paddlewheel kit. If the speed insert is damaged, it can be replaced with one of this speed-only insert.

If the speed function is not working, but the paddlewheel and insert seem intact, then you will need to install an active insert that contains replacement speed and temperature circuitry. You will also need to use an active insert if the temperature sensor has failed. The active inserts have a cable attached and this is to be spliced into the existing transducer cable using the junction box provided. Instructions are included.

If the depth sensor fails, the transducer must be replaced.

Identifying your Transducer

Every Airmar transducer has a label attached to its cable, located near the top of the transducer or where the cable plugs into the back of the instrument or display. This label contains information that is helpful in identifying the transducer and locating the correct service parts for it. For most Airmar products this label will show:

• the model name
• the manufacturing date
• certain performance characteristics (i.e. the transducer's frequency)
• the Airmar part number (PN)
• a Customer Part #

In all cases it is the Airmar Part Number (PN) that is the most important number to have available when ordering parts or contacting us about the transducer.

Before calling or emailing us about parts, please make sure you have the Airmar part number from the label on the transducer cable.
